So we had a good week. Lots of phonecalls and running around and preaching the Gospel but nothing too new.
Last P-day, we went to an ice cream shop and ate ice cream with brownies. It was awesome. It also happened to be all that I ate for lunch. Even more surprising is that I wasn`t hungry at night. Not quite sure what happened there. Also got in a nap that day. For 2 Hours. Nice.
Funny moment of the week would definitely have to be when I was on divisions with Elder Jones, a new elder in the mission, and an hermano who had recently moved in called us to tell us that he needed help. He was moving from one house to another and they needed us to help them move a bed. We made time and ended up walking through the streets in the middle of the dark toting this huge wooden bedframe. We walked a pretty long ways. Then we had to go back and get their mattress from the old house too. We did the same walk and I think some drunk people on the side of the street started cheering us on. I love doing service.
On the more spiritual side, Hermana Arevalo, a member of the ward here in Arco Iris, gave a talk Sunday on helping the upcoming youth (mainly seminary because she`s a seminary teacher). She talked about a specific type of bamboo that takes 7 years to germinate. It goes 7 years and you can`t tell if it`s alive or dead. Then after 7 years, it grows 30 meters in 6 months. During those 7 years of germination, the seed takes root. She related that to the idea that when we invest time, money, and effort in today`s youth, it really does help. We might not see the benefits now or for many years, but we do know that they too will make to their period of ``visible growth.`` I reminded me of the scripture Alma 37:6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
That is simple truth. Our efforts do make an impact. I apply that scripture to the mission in my head and think about the great missionaries that I know. The best ones are the ones that focus on consistently doing the little things. Making small course adjustments to stay on the right track. They don`t get down when they don`t succeed. They look at their past and focus on the future. I know that we can do the same. I hope that you`ve all had a wonderful week. I love you guys. Stay in touch.
Un abrazo,

| All of the streets here are dirt streets. It's hot outside so the windows have to stay open. This is after one week. Oy. |
