Week 40 Something a lot bigger than I am

For the wonderful people of my past life,

This week was pretty quick for me. We started it off with a nice trip to the temple where I was reaquainted with many of my old friends and companions. We had a great time and I slept on the ride home until I realized that an Elder was taking a picture of me. I then passed my camera to the front of our bus so they could take a selfie. Turned out pretty well. At the temple, our mission president challenged us to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover in 60 days. It´s going to be a bit tough with our schedules, but I think we´ll get it done. While I´ve been reading these 1st few chapters, I have really learned a lot about Nephi. I always thought his main quality would be faithfulness, but, having read and highlighted a few things, I realize that Nephi´s main quality is definitely Obedience. I´d say at least every chapter has a reference to him following some commandment, or asking his brothers to keep the commandments, or saying that they should be diligent in keeping the commandments. I´m running out of the color orange. It´s been great to apply his example to the work we do every day.

Something I read the other day in my studies also really caught my attention. ´´Heaven is the continuation of the perfect home.´´ Being a missionary, home is something that is very dear to us. I´d have to say my strongest testimonies always include, in some way or another, a mention of my mother or father. The home is essential to our initial progress in this life. One of the members in church this Sunday talked to us about having to meet with children from her school. One of them was very well behaved and the other not so much. After having met their parents, she knew why. I´m happy to belong to an church that is so protective of the home and family.

Honestly the week flew by. We´ve got Laura who came to church this Sunday who´s doing incredibly well. Elder Townsend and I get along. I´m thinking about trying to find a place to get sushi for lunch. What else is new? I was somewhat tired this weekend and my thoughts wandered a bit. I was really exhausted in one or two of our lessons. It lets me know that I´m not perfect yet. It´s hard to have moments like that which bring us back to the reality of our own weakness, but thankfully, there´s something a lot bigger than I am going on here. Remember that God doesn´t forget his children. He lets them struggle because he loves them. I´m so happy to have this Gospel in my life. I come to know the Gospel more fully every day, and every day I have the opportunity to love it more. Take care at home. I love every one of you guys. Until next week,

Jack says he gets to go to the temple once a year! It's a great reunion time. Here's his second companion, Elder Jarrin.

Here's Elder Salmon, Jack's third companion.
