Week 45 If you don't like yourself, you don't know yourself well enough

I love you people and yes, I know I´m late with this one,

Unfortunately yesterday was ´´Worker´s Day´´ here in Argentina. AKA No one went to work. Today we were going to come and email around 2 o clock, but everything closes around 1 and opens back up at 4. I was a little upset. I´m getting over it. It´s all good.

This week we had the unique opportunity to help the hermanas move to a new apartment. I think God is trying to teach me patience. I know because I find myself becoming impatient. As we drove a few blocks in the truck that the office elders brought, one of the stopped and said ´´Oh man. I think I forgot the key...´´ We had to wait another hour and a half for the office elders to drive home, get the key, and come back. We then had to move everything into the new pension. It was an interesting night.

Also this week, we saw a very interesting phenomenon. It got kind of hot and Zona Oeste filled with mosquitoes. As we were told by someone, mosquitoes incubate during the winter waiting until it gets hot enough to hatch. Unfortunately that moment came a little earlier than expected. They all hatched this week. It was rough. Especially when that super cool investigator that you have is a woman who lives at home alone so you can´t go in and teach her. We taught outside. It was a nightmare. Plus side: She was there for the second visit when we brought a friend. I´ll tell that story because it was actually a miracle.

Hernan Alderete accompanies us on visits pretty often. He´s a return missionary and loves going out with us. We taught this investigator, Delia, outside one day and got eaten by mosquitos. It was terrible. We need another adult with us to go in and teach her. No one was answering my calls Friday nor Saturday. I was praying like a sinner all day that we would find someone. I kept calling. I got a few people to pick up. Ultimately, nothing. Then, while crossing a bridge in our area, we literally ran into Hernan. He was having phone trouble. We asked him to come with us to teach. He said no. We asked why. He had to clean the chapel by himself because no one from his family would help. We cleaned the chapel with him. He came with us to teach. It was worth it.

Alma 41-42 is a great read for anyone who wants to know what happens after this life. This is some good stuff that I personally love teaching.

I´ll close up with some deep thoughts that I had while teaching this week. I´ve always had a great saying for people who choose to dislike others. ´´If you don´t like someone, you haven´t spent enough time with them getting to know them.´´ As we were in a lesson, I got to expound on that idea a little bit. We´ve seen a good bit of people with depression this last week, and I had a friend at home that I think had depression. What I thought went a little something like this. ´´If you don´t like yourself, you don´t know yourself well enough.´´ We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father and as such we bring divine potential to this world. Every person on earth has an incredible internal value. It´s a shame that few people really look deep enough to discover their talents and develop themselves as people and children of God. I hope that we can look at the activities that we´re doing this week and decide if they´re really indicative of our inner, divine value. As we embrace our inner potential, we realize changes inside ourselves that bring us closer to our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ.

I love you people. I hope that this week is full of miracles for each and everyone of you. Keep working hard. Keep being happy. Until next week,

This is Rebecca's comment: Y'all might hate pictures like this. But I love this picture because it tells a story--buildings in Argentina use skeleton keys. Jacks's allergies flare up there, so he keeps his Zyrtec handy. That Ensign I gave him before he left and highlighted some motivational stuff in it; he keeps it in sight. He drinks from a sippy cup like the one he used as a toddler. He's learned to like fried eggs. I love life!
