This week was very good. I am now officially part of the office staff. Man I really don´t want to have a desk job when I get home. I can have a desk, but I had better not be there the whole day.
The offices are awesome. I handle more money than I´ve ever held in my life. I´m in charge of things. I take care of people. Love it. We look like we have a ton of money, but we´re all still pretty poor. We do have some really nice benefits though like: Driving cars (I´m learning to drive stick), washing machines, microwaves, and computers that don´t have viruses. Rough points would be that I´m sitting for a lot more of the day. That alone made me feel super, lazy tired this week. We don´t get to do as much proselyting and that´s pretty sad. We do make do with what we have though. Overall, it´s pretty great to be in the offices. We ate takeout this whole last week because we had transfers. They told me I would get fat here. Dang.
We had a baptism this weekend. I got to meet a wonderful family. Mirian is a single mother with 4 children. 2 of them, Luján and Alvaro, got baptized with her this Saturday. They have looked over my documents and forced me to speak in Guaraní (a language spoken by Paraguayos) and have decided that I´m good. Nice. I met a small part of our ward at the baptism and even more on Sunday. They seem like very cool people.
Man this is going to be a kind of tiny email... I guess not much happened this week. I´ll take more pics next week because we finally got to buy my camera the cable it was missing. I think we´ll finish with a nice experience that we had this Sunday. One of our duties as office elders is to help with the weekly numbers. Sunday nights, we should be in the offices to help. After finishing proselyting on Sunday, we were waiting for a colectivo. Elder Cespedes began to contact a nice Paraguayan man who was at the stop and we had a pretty good conversation... Until a colectivo passed by and dropped off a very drunk Bolivian man. He proceeded to shake our hands and proclaim his ancestry like drunk men often do. His name was Señari if I´m not mistaken. Following this, he spoke to me and said ´´And... ya know.. I´m Bolivian. And you´re Argentine. (Wait what? He thinks I´m Argentine. Sweet.) And we´re both men... And I love you.´´ He then hugged me and continued to say ´´Te quiero papi.´´ We enjoyed his company for a good 45 minutes because the colectivos were way off schedule. Eventually Elder Alexander came and picked us up in the truck and we literally had to run away. It was a nice night. Pretty sure this is the third time that something like that has happened to me. I love Argentina.
Anyways, I had a nice relaxing little week. I hope that it was the same for you guys and I wish you all very well until the next. I love you people.

Answers to Questions:
My companions are Elder Venecia, Elder Alexander, and Elder Cespedes
Elder´s Venecia and Cespedes are in charge of pensions. They handle all of the housing in the mission. Elder Alexander is in charge of Materials and Event Planning. I´m his replacement.
For now it´s pretty simple. I get materials to the Elders who need them. I make sure that we have enough materials here for everyone. It´s about to get real crazy though because I´m in charge of food, transportation, and events which is basically a ton because we´re changing mission presidents in June.
I drive places sometimes. I need to get an international license. Mainly I just organize ´´The Cave.´´ It´s where we keep all the stuff.
I'm in the office Tuesdays to Fridays from 10:30-17:00
We still proselyte when we can
We had 7 elders in our pension because there were 3 sick elders there. 2 of them got better and went back to their areas and the other one changed pensions because he had ingrown toenails but now he´s starting to walk
It´s just us in our ward here but we share the church building with another ward, and they have the other half of the office elders and Elder Jarrín. Remember him?
I just got to try out driving manual in the truck this morning.
| Yes those Snickers are encased in plastic so that people don´t steal them. Haha. |
