Friends and family,
We had a lot of stuff happen this week. It was madness.
Last week I was writing from a little town called Lobos. That same day, President Resek cancelled all divisions for December (including the ones that we were about to do with Lobos). That same night, the train back home to Arco Iris got cancelled. We spent the night sleeping in Lobos.
We had practice with the mission choir on Thursday to see how we were doing. It went alright. We aren´t exactly professionals, but we try our best. We must have done something right because Elder Allen and I got ´´selected´´ to go to Luján on Friday and sing with a few other elders.
Friday we went to Luján. Funny enough, Friday happened to be the Day of the Virgin, so Luján was packed with a ton of people who walk from Liniers to Luján to pay hommage to the virgin. Look up the route they walk. It´s pretty dang impressive. We ended up singing at an open chapel in the Luján 2 ward. They actually had a reasonable turnout. Only problem was that they already had something set up in the chapel so we had to sing outside. Aka no piano aka acapella. Surprisingly enough, it wasn´t that bad. It doesn´t hurt that the common Argentine usually doesn´t have an incredibly well tuned musical ear. We ended up going home in President´s car around 9:30 at night due to some confusion in who was going to take who home.
The nice man who lives below our pension also happens to be the owner of our pension. We payed him rent the other night. He has a lot of old stuff in his giant garage. Long story short, we went home that night with Coca-Cola Christmas decorations and a giant sword and breastplate. I love Argentina.
President called an emergency council of leaders this Sunday. We´re really trying to help as many as we can during the Christmas season. Inviting all to come unto Christ is a big part of the missionary purpose.
I read this scripture the other day, and I really liked it. I know that I´m not the greatest writer, and I imagine that writing scripture would be a good bit more difficult than what I´m doing right now. Nonetheless, Moroni helps keep everything in perspective. We´re all imperfect. We can always learn new things from others even if they´re very imperfect. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. How grateful I am to have an eternal family. At the end of the emergency council of leaders, President Resek asked me to share my testimony. It ended with me talking about family because that´s what this is all about.
Mormon 9:31 Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been.
Have a great week!
-Elder Sultan
