Week 17

For my wonderful family and beautiful friends,

This week was a little short seeing as I emailed last week on Wednesday. We didn´t do anything terribly exciting to be honest. We taught a little more and got lost because Elder Millett´s supposed to let me be ´´in charge.´´ Basically, I´m supposed to be able to teach, plan, navigate, and do just about everything solo, and that´s tough.  Elder Millett and I had a day where we came back for dinner in the pension. I feel like he did it explicitly because I was having a hard time, but we did snack a little bit and he read me a letter that his mother sent him. It was nice to just hear a mom letter. Speaking of mothers...

HAPPY MOTHER´S DAY. At least here it was. It was also kind of funny because everyone says ´´feliz día´´ to all the mothers which literally translated is just Happy Day! And it was. We got to eat asado and it was my first time. They basically take an entire animal (this time it was a pig), and they cook it. I believe the cook told me that it had been cooking for about 4 and a half hours. It was awesome. We also spent a long time eating it. As missionaries, we´re only supposed to take an hour to eat dinner, but it was Mother´s Day and we didn´t want to be rude so we may have stayed a little longer than an hour. Argentines do love to take their time eating. It was just a good time spent at the table with the whole family.

Our little old couple Nestor and Anita are still good to get baptized this Saturday, and Elder Millett and I are very excited. One of my favorite scriptures from my personal study this week would be 3 Nephi 5:13 where Mormon talks about being a disciple of Christ and what that means to him. I think as missionaries we have an great opportunity to share the truths that we have been taught. There are so many things that we know about God, Jesus Christ, and who they are and how they work. Sometimes I think that we consider our basic doctrine as common knowledge, but having spoken with some of the people here I can tell you it´s not. There is so much to share and so many amazing people to share it with.

Also, in other news, I broke our door. I was just pulling it shut and the door handle came off with my hand. So we put it back on and it worked, but it looked super weird. Then I broke it again and now it´s just a mess. I´m surprised we can still get in and out of our apartment haha. We´re going to a buffett in about an hour so that´s all for this week. I hope that all goes well at home for everyone at home and I love you guys.
